One day I was asked this question by someone who I spoke to on the phone:
I do not have much to spend (maybe $ 20k for the year including ad spend) on marketing this Digital Marketing Agencies in Nottingham year, so if you were me where you would put your budget?
I love questions like this, because it means they are usually very open to suggestions and want to do the right thing and not demanding something like “SEO optimization”. We all start somewhere and in my experience it’s best to start by asking questions.
It also makes me think about what I would do if I only had ~ $ 20k to spend on marketing for the total year, which is exactly what we got for 2016 and 2017.

This is what I told them:
If I were you, I would not be looking for someone to do a “service” for me, as hire someone to do the technical updates, content writing, link building, conducting continuous research, etc.
Instead, I would hire someone to develop an overall strategy for me. Since your business is e-commerce business with ~ 1000 SKUs, from what I see on the site, I would be much more interested in getting the strategy behind the product categories and ratings.
If I were you, I’d find someone who could carry out an audit of existing platforms and then put together your strategy for a few thousand dollars.
Then, I will invest time and money to implement that strategy. If you’re looking for someone to do all the necessary things and you just have realistic ~ $ 10k to spend this year on SEO (because it paid the acquisition must take a huge chunk of your budget), you will need to spend more budget so you than if you have a much larger budget.
This is not to say that you can not then hire someone on a freelance basis to then operate multiple channels, such as the media you spend, where you do not have the time or ability to acquire the skills to do well, but start looking to hire someone who’s to operate is not the right way to go.
First understand the strategies and opportunities, and then seek to fill that role.
In fact, this is exactly how I operated Credo until mid-2017 when I started to bring more consistent relief.
In 2016, I was running very lean Credo. We do ~ $ 100k in revenue as I also consulted. Business grew well across many business and personal change. I remember very well sitting in a coffee shop in Hayes Valley between the promise of working with a developer I found through Gravity Forms Codeable on some improvements.
In 2017, I worked with several consultants. I worked with consultants copywriting for audits quickly and one hour of phone consultation as I work through some changes in the message to the homepage of the Credo, and at the end of the year I worked with a friend who built a business that is very similar to the Credo in the past on several recommendations technical and strategies for moving forward.
2018 is where I began to use services such as Verblio (when Blogmutt) and enterprise content my friend to completely content for our products. I also consulted with email marketing professionals and designers, and in the middle of the year I hired a friend who is based in Denver to redesign our partners. You can also use a service like Venngage to build graphs.
In Q4 2018 the end I hired my first full-time employee, and now my friends are doing a redesign we also cooperate with our half-time. We also continue to work with several consultants and service providers in the field of business.
My recommendation definitely colored by my own experience with the Credo, but also of seeing a lot of business with a smaller budget came looking to hire someone for their needs without understanding what direction to run first to get the Digital Marketing Company in Nottingham best advantage for their business.
Investing in knowledge first, use your time budget, and then look to hire for areas outside your area of expertise and passion.
